SUMMARY:Gallery Opening - Sin Indiferencia: Mexican art and objects 1956–1973 from
DESCRIPTION:Immerse yourself in the vibrant world of Mexican art and objects from 1956-1973 at our Gallery Opening – Sin Indiferencia!\n\n\nSIN INDIFERENCIA: Mexican art and objects 1956–1973 \nfrom the WCSU Archives’ Collection\n\nOctober 2 – December 7\, 2025\nOPENING RECEPTION:Thursday\, Oct 2\, 6:00–8:00pm\n \nTHE GALLERY at the Visual & Performing Arts Center \nWestern Connecticut State University \nWestside Campus\, 43 Lake Ave Extension\, Danbury\, CT 06811 \nGallery Hours: Tues–Fri\, 12–4\, Sat–Sun\, 1–4 \n \nThis exhibition of WCSU’s Mexican art and objects from 1956-1973 compels us to consider the theme of “otherness” through the lens of Mexican modernism\, provenance\, ancient aesthetics\, and the power of art to bridge cultural divides. “Sin Indiferncia” or “Without Indifference” is the title of a sculpture in this exhibit by Mexican artist\, Herbert Hofmann-Ysenbourg\, and speaks to how WCSU looked past otherness and came to possess and preserve these objects. \n \nThe Gallery at the Visual & Performing Arts Center is dedicated to presenting professional\, contemporary art exhibitions and cultural programming. By providing outstanding visual art experiences\, we seek to inspire our audiences to embrace new ideas and perspectives and appreciate art in all its forms.
