Elizabeth Parkinson<\/strong> (Adjunct Professor)<\/em>:\u00a0Acclaimed in ballet, modern, and jazz styles, Ms. Parkinson began her career as a\u00a0principal\u00a0ballerina\u00a0with the Joffrey Ballet. She went on to perform worldwide with the Feld Ballet, Donald Byrd\/The Group, and Twyla Tharp Dance.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She appeared as a soloist in the National Tours of\u00a0<\/span>Singin\u2019 in\u00a0the\u00a0Rain<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>The Harlem Nutcracker<\/span><\/i>,\u00a0and the Lincoln Center production of\u00a0<\/span>Carousel<\/span><\/i>. In\u00a01999, she\u00a0segued to Broadway and received tremendous praise as a lead in\u00a0<\/span>Fosse\u00a0<\/span><\/i>(Outer Critics Circle and Drama\u00a0Desk\u00a0nominations for Best Featured Actress in a Musical) and later in the hit Twyla Tharp\/Billy Joel musical,\u00a0<\/span>Movin\u2019 Out<\/span><\/i>,\u00a0where she earned the 2003 Tony-award nomination and the highly coveted Astaire Award for best female dancer on Broadway. She has appeared in the films\u00a0<\/span>Stay<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>Romance and Cigarettes,\u00a0<\/span><\/i>and\u00a0<\/span>Every Little Step<\/span><\/i>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

After a performance career on Broadway, Elizabeth appeared as a concert soloist at Carnegie Hall with Clint Holmes and at the American Dance Festival with Martha Clarke. She teaches master classes and workshops\u00a0nationwide,\u00a0most notably at North Carolina School of the Arts, The Joffrey Summer Intensives, and West Coast Dance Explosion. \u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the summer of 2022 Elizabeth appeared as \u201cMother\u201d in the new musical\u00a0<\/span>SuperYou\u00a0<\/span><\/i>at Carnegie Hall.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She is the co-owner and co-director of Fineline Theatre Arts, a full spectrum theatre arts school in New Milford, CT.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Elizabeth is honored to be an adjunct professor at Western Connecticut State University and hopes to pass on her passion,\u00a0love,\u00a0and strong work ethic to her students.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
