The 2020-2021 Weather Team

Dominick Mogstad

Dominick Mogstad is a senior at Western Connecticut State University. His love for weather developed at a young age, having always been fascinated by thunderstorms and hurricanes.  In 2011 at age 12, he called and woke his grandmother up ahead of an approaching tornado, which was a decision that ultimately saved her life. That was when he realized that meteorology was his calling. Throughout high school, he operated a forecasting blog, and he became known as “Dom the Weatherman”. Since enrolling at Western, Dominick has been a member of two A Cappella groups, and has been President of the Meteorology Club since his junior year. He enjoys forecasting all types of weather, but his favorites are thunderstorms and snowstorms. Aside from weather, he loves doing voice-over work, traveling, singing, exclaiming “aww, a baby!” when he sees any kind of animal whatsoever, and watching (and memorizing) episodes of Family Guy. He aspires to be an on-air meteorologist for The Weather Channel one day.

Liam Murphy

Liam Murphy is a senior at Western Connecticut State University. He graduated high school in 2016 from Sabis International Charter School, in Springfield, Massachusetts and began WCSU in the following fall. Liam became interested in weather at a young age, when a tornado came through Springfield, Massachusetts. Ever since that day, Liam has been interested in weather, how it develops, as well as how to forecast weather events such as the storm he witnessed produce a tornado in his hometown. In addition to weather, Liam was an Eagle scout. He enjoys outdoor activity such as hiking and shooting archery which he taught to young boy scouts at the Horace A Moses Scout Reservation in Russell, MA for 2 years.
