The decisions we make from dining outside, bringing our\u00a0umbrella to work, or changing a flight rely on accurate weather forecasts. Meteorologists are individuals who have the expertise\u00a0and specialty training to compare, analyze, and interpret weather model\u00a0data. Many people rely on their native smartphone application or untrained online sources to provide them with their daily weather. This talk will focus on the critical training meteorologists\u00a0complete to allow for accurate prediction. Specifically, the interpretation\u00a0and messaging of the weather data to create an accurate, comprehensible, and functional forecast for the public and \u201chumanizing the forecast\u201d will be outlined.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong>Bio<\/strong>: Gil Simmons was a Meteorologist\/Oceanographer on active duty with the United States Marine Corps from 1990-1996. Following his time with the Marines, he finished his training at Western Connecticut State University graduating in 1999. He has been a TV Broadcast Meteorologist since 1998, starting at NEWS12 Connecticut and Westchester, NY. Presently \u00a0he serves Connecticut as the Chief Meteorologist for NEWS8 &amp; has been a member of the team at WTNH since 2003.
