WestConn Community Leadership Opportunity: Wellbeing Ambassador

What you gain: Excellent leadership experience, great resume building, improving own wellbeing by helping others.

Reports to: Coordinator of Substance Misuse and Wellness Education

Great Experience for: Students in Public Health, Exercise, Health Promotion, Social Work, Psychology, Addiction Studies, or any student passionate about wellness.

Position Requirements:

  • Must be at least sophomore standing
  • Strong interest in promoting wellbeing on campus
  • Ability to dedicate 6 hours per week to the role
  • Maintain a minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Be free from judicial sanctions
  • Must attend (and pass) NASPA peer educator training
  • Make a minimum commitment of one academic year (or more if possible)

Qualifications:

  • Proactive work ethic
  • Non-judgmental, open-minded attitude
  • Comfortable and confident with public speaking
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable interacting in a one-on-one situation
  • Strong, organizational time management skills
  • Ability to work well in a team and independently
  • Must be able to represent themselves in positive and professional manner
  • Working knowledge of digital platforms, software, technology, social media
  • Demonstrated understanding of the purpose of wellbeing
  • Commitment to making healthy lifestyle choices and role-modeling those choices

Duties:

  • Monthly wellbeing presentations on various topics that are creative, diverse, and inclusive
  • Capture feedback surveys at each event and the program as a whole
  • Development of passive health education (stall street journal/social media)
  • Offer health promotional education to students, but also have knowledge of and ability to guide students to the professional resources on campus (health services, counseling, substance abuse prevention, etc.)
  • Represent Wolves Wellbeing as invited guests in classes and promote campus wellbeing services
  • Attend regular staff meetings/trainings with wellbeing committee

What you gain: Field work experience, on the job training, practice skills, and fulfills program education requirements, supervision from non-clinical professional staff
