Accreditations

Western Connecticut State University is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB); ABET; the American Chemical Society; the Board of Regents of Higher Education, State of Connecticut; the Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs (CACREP); the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP); the Collegiate Commission on Nursing Education (CCNE); the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH); the Connecticut State Department of Education; the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) (Baccalaureate level); the National Association for Schools of Art and Design (NASAD); the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM); the National Association of Schools of Theatre (NAST) and the New England Commission of Higher Education (NECHE).

The New England Commission of Higher Education is a nongovernmental, nationally recognized organization whose affiliated institutions include elementary schools through collegiate institutions offering post-graduate instruction.

Student Complaint Process

In order to comply with the Higher Education Opportunities Act of 2008, the Connecticut Board of Regents for Higher Education (CSCU) has oversight for investigating all written and signed student complaints against the colleges and universities in the CSCU system.
