M.S. in Addiction Studies Admission Requirements

Applicants who wish to be admitted to the M.S. in Addiction Studies program must complete the application for admission to the Office of Graduate Admissions and send a $50 application fee. The online application is located at:   WCSU Graduate Program Applications 

Graduates 2020

Our requirements:

  1. Applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution of higher education at time of entry into the program.
  2. One official transcript mailed to the Office of Graduate Admissions from each college or university previously attended, including all earned grades and degree(s).
  3. Applicant’s cumulative undergraduate grade point average (GPA) must be at least a 3.0 for admission consideration*.
  4. Applicants are asked to submit a resume and a personal statement questionnaire.
  5. It is preferred for students to have skills (e.g., completed coursework) in the following areas:
    • basic understanding of the DSM-5-TR
    • applied experience in psychology, mental health, addictions, or a related field
    • research methods in the behavioral sciences

Such courses are not required. Applicants should specify the relevant courses or experiences they have completed.

Once requirements are met, an interview with the department admissions committee will be scheduled. Acceptance letters are sent within 3 weeks of interviews.

*There may be alternate pathways to enter the program if GPA requirements are not met by taking pre requisite coursework in psychology. Contact the department to discuss.
