DIMA Visiting Artist Series: Joyce Yu-Jean Lee

Joyce Yu-Jean Lee appeared as part of the DIMA Visiting Artist Series in March, 2020. Joyce is a visual artist working with video, digital photography and interactive installation. Her artwork examines how mass media and culture shapes notions of truth and understanding of the “other.” Her project about Internet censorship, FIREWALL,​ garnered backlash from Chinese state authorities in 2016​ ​and​ was presented at Lincoln Center in NYC, the Oslo Freedom Forum in Norway​, and Center for Community Cultural Development – Green Wave Art in Hong Kong. Joyce’s​ artwork has exhibited internationally and been written about in The New York Times, The Washington Post, Huffington Post, Hyperallergic and ArtCritical.
