AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF CHEMISTS AWARD: TIMOTHY MEKSVANH & STEVEN HONG
One of the significant activities of the American Institute of Chemists Foundation (AICF), administered by the American Institute of Chemists (AIC), is the annual student awards program to honor outstanding seniors, post-baccalaureate and post-doctoral students majoring in chemistry, chemical engineering or biochemistry. These awards are given in recognition of a demonstrated record of ability, leadership, and professional promise. Candidates are chosen and nominated by their faculty members.
CARL AND RUTH DENISON OUTSTANDING SENIOR AWARD: MICHAEL A. KELLY
This award is presented to a nontraditional senior majoring in chemistry or biochemistry who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement while fulfilling non-academic commitments. The award is given in honor of the Denisons, professors emeriti at the university.
EAS ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY AWARD: BRIELLE M. SKRUTSKIE
The award for outstanding performance in analytical chemistry will be presented by the course instructor.
GENERAL CHEMISTRY ACHIEVEMENT AWARD: ANNA BROWN
The recipient of this award, presented by the CRC Press, is selected on the basis of outstanding academic achievement in general chemistry. The recipient is given a new edition of the CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics as well as a commemorative scroll.
MASSY RADJABZADEH AWARD IN ANALYTICAL CHEMISTRY: HENRY M. VALLE-AYALA
This award is in memory of Dr. Massy Rajabzadeh, a professor of analytical chemistry at WCSU, who recognized the importance of compassion and nurturing in teaching students. It is given to support and encourage an analytical chemistry student who shows improvement over the course of the semester.
