High pressure will bring partly to mostly sunny skies across southern New England with temperatures in the 80s, while there is a chance of a late day shower or thunderstorm in northern areas as highs top off in the 70s and lower 80s. In New York State, a cold front will cause partly cloudy skies with scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially during the afternoon. A few isolated showers and thunderstorms may linger into Monday. Across the nation, remnants of Tropical Storm Fay will be moving across the Gulf Coast states causing locally heavy rainfall and very breezy conditions, while a cold front will produce scattered showers and thunderstorms in the central Plains. High pressure in central Canada will ridge southward into the upper Plains and Midwest with lots of sunshine and cooler than normal temperatures. A few showers in the Pacific Northwest.
