Academic Resource Mentors

2020 – 2021 Academic Recognition Ceremony

 Our Mission

As ARMs, we encourage residents to balance academics and everyday life.  With the assistance of our peers and campus resources, we create opportunities that support ongoing success.

Welcome to the ARM Academic Success Spot. As you know, each of your buildings has at least one ARM, or Academic Resource Mentor. But there are lots of you, and they can't be everywhere at once, so we've created this page to provide you with some resources that you can access when your ARM isn't there to help.

button logo Who and what are the ARMs?

ARMs are Academic Resource Mentors -- peers whose goal is to help you find the information, locate the resources, and connect you to people who can help you in your academic endeavors. They provide academic and life skills programming, too. More importantly, they serve as academic coaches, and working with them, you can identify issues that may be making your studies difficult, and begin to use strategies that will give you the ability to change the outcomes you want to change.

ARMs have office hours in your halls, when you can see them to get assistance. They are students, just like you! They can also help you touch base with PASS members, student volunteers who offer tutoring or assistance in subjects they do well in.

We're sure you'll see your ARM around in the building, but just in case, here are the ARMs for 2020-21:

Caitlyn Archambault

My name is Caitlyn Archambault, and I'm a Centennial ARM.  I am a sophomore majoring in Secondary Education with a concentration in Biology.  My strongest academic subjects are science and math.

I transferred into Westconn last year from NVCC.  I am always open to helping out anyone I can, some may say I can talk with anyone! This is my first year as an ARM, and I can’t wait to see what the year brings!!!

Hi! My name is Sara and I am one of the ARM’s in Centennial this year. I am currently a senior here at WCSU, and am majoring in Nursing. Outside of school, I love to hike, go to the beach, and kayak! Academically, my strong suits are sciences and maths, however I am available to help in all subjects.

I am excited for this semester and I can’t wait to meet you all!

Sara Slaiby

Tamia Scott

Hey! My name is Tamia and I am the ARM in Grasso Hall. I am a senior here at WestConn and I am majoring in Justice and Law Administration. You should know that I love going to the movies and hanging out with my friends. I love amusement parks and adventures.

Academically my strongest subjects are English, history, a little bit of science, and a sprinkle of math. I am always around on campus so if you need any help I am here. If you see me don't be afraid to say hi.

Hi! My name is Sam Cross and I'm the ARM for Newbury Hall. I'm very excited to be working with our incoming students and anyone else who might be seeking academic help. I'm a double major in psychology and creative writing, so I'll try and make myself quite versatile to suit any and all of your academic needs. I have experience with course loading, so if you need help with time management I can spot you along with that, too. You can probably find me around campus hula hooping or roller skating. I'd love to talk to you then, too!

Audrey Redpath

I'm Audrey, a senior Writing major and a Justice & Law minor planning a career in investigative reporting and one of your Pinney ARMs. A campus reporter, editor for the Echo student newspaper, honors student, and SGA senator, I understand balancing (and struggling to balance) a busy student life. With experience in technology training, tutoring, and remote work and learning, I'm ready to help with the challenges hybrid and online courses might pose for students. I am particularly interested in how bad habits, failure, and personal setbacks can be translated to academic improvement and success, and in navigating college life with disability.

Hello! My name is Elizabeth, but everyone calls me Lizzie. I’m a sophomore here at WCSU, and an ARM in Litchfield Hall! My strengths are in English and history, but I also have a fair understanding of music theory. I’m here to help you in any way, in any subject, and to be your friend! I have a passion for literature, a love for music, and a strong desire to teach. I am here to support you, help you reach your goals, and enjoy your college experience. I am sincerely looking forward to a wonderful year with you all!

Gabby Christofor

Hi! My name is Gabby Christofor and I am an ARM in Pinney Hall. I am a junior here at Westconn studying theatre and I am also currently working on nursing prerequisite classes. My strongest subjects fall under the liberal arts and sciences, however, I am willing to assist academically in any way I can. I am very interested in volunteering and getting to know people all around campus. I am always around to help you in any way I can, and if I do not have the specific answer for your question, I will find the person that does. My email is christofor001@wcsu.edu and I have an Instagram where I post Westconn’s updates: @armgabby. I can’t wait to get to know you all in the fall!
