Student Stories

Jessica Coraizaca shadowed Dr. Bill Glass, Deputy Superintendent of Danbury Public Schools, as a Hancock Student Leader and received her field experience with the Education Department with Danbury Schools. After graduating in 2014, she was hired by that school district full time.

Michael Gathers at his Graduation

Michael Gathers:  “After I graduated from the social work program at WCSU, I got a full time position as a case manager in Norwalk.  I have my senior internship to thank for my smooth transition.”

Everett Redente Headshot

Everett Redente: “The Hancock Student Leadership Program and my field placements in WCSU’s Social Work program transformed me from a student to a professional. In each placement, I gained real-life experience and I was able to apply concepts I learned in class directly to my work with clients and coworkers. My experience in the field allowed me to establish strong professional connections and networks, receive employment offers, and gain experience and knowledge that I would not have experienced through class alone.”
