Chase Rice Brings ‘Back To College Tour’ to Connecticut
DANBURY, CONN. — Fresh off the release of his new single, “Whisper,” country music phenomenon Chase Rice has announced his takeover of Ives Concert Park on the Western Connecticut State University Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. Rice, who currently is nominated for ACM New Male Vocalist of the Year, brings his “Back To College Tour” to the outdoor venue on Friday, May 6, 2016. The Nashville-based singer and songwriter spent 2015 touring with country music star Kenny Chesney before setting out on his third headlining tour, The JD and Jesus Tour, which sold out numerous venues along the way.
Rice’s latest song, “Whisper,” is the first single off of his forthcoming album, which is slated for release mid-2016. Rice is preparing for the release of his second Columbia Nashville/Dack Janiels Records album and returning to his roots to play his new music for “the most discerning crowd there is: college kids.” His most recent album, “Ignite The Night,” charted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums, and No. 3 on the imprint’s all-genre chart; while two singles from the album spiraled to Top 5 positions: “Gonna Wanna Tonight” and the Platinum-certified single, “Ready Set Roll.”
The young country artist tells Rolling Stone there’s going to be “a lot more me” and “a lot less girls, trucks and a perfect night. It’s going to have a lot more substance about what I’m singing about.” Three national headlining tours, a coveted opening spot for Kenny Chesney on his 2015 tour and one chart-topping country album later, Rice is ready to showcase a fresh, exciting and more authentic side of himself at the Ives Concert Park on May 6.
