2014 WCSU to host College Goal Sunday

DANBURY, CONN. — While many are counting down to Superbowl XLIX on Sunday, Feb. 1, there’s an event the Sunday before that has higher stakes for high school students planning to attend college. From 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 25, 2015, the Western Connecticut State University Office of Student Financial Services will host “College Goal Sunday” on the Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. College-bound high school seniors and their families will receive assistance from financial aid professionals in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form online. Check-in is at the Student Center on the Midtown campus.

College Goal Sunday will take place at 14 sites in Connecticut. Each site will be able to assist students who speak Spanish or English. Information about the benefits of attending college, student support services, areas of study and different degree programs also will be available.

College Goal Sunday is a volunteer charitable effort specifically designed to assist low-income families and those who are the first in their families to attend college. The FAFSA forms are required to qualify for college financial aid nationwide.
