COVID- 19 RESPONSEe

The WCSU Facilities Operations and Services Division is dedicated to preserving and maintaining the health and safety of all members of our community and continues to work diligently maintaining all our buildings, health and safety protocols and most recently, preparing the campus for the start of the Spring 2022 semester.

We have a very limited supply of N95 respirators, most of which have been distributed to the various schools and we have updated guidance on their use on our Environmental, Health and Safety website at https://www.wcsu.edu/emergency-management/  and on our Emergency Management site at https://www.wcsu.edu/emergency-management/. Please check with your school for availability.

As with other Covid-related supplies, requests can be made via email at covid-requests@wcsu.edu

WINTER WEATHER PREPARATION

We are diligently preparing for any inclement weather and, as always, keep the safety of the University community as our top priority.
Weather notices will be posted on the University home page at https://www.wcsu.edu and will be sent via the Everbridge emergency notification system. Please take a moment to ensure you are enrolled in the system and that your preferred contact information is current. You can access the system at https://www.wcsu.edu/ens/

WINTER WEATHER PARKING RESTRICTIONS

Snow ban parking restrictions – When a snow parking ban is in effect, in anticipation of snow or other severe weather, or due to snow and icy conditions, it may become necessary to clear all surface parking lots (regardless of designation), the top decks of all campus parking garages, and all of University Blvd, Grasso Drive, Centennial Drive and the O’Neill Access Road (Feldman Drive), in order to facilitate snow and/or ice removal operations.

During a snow parking ban, the following restrictions will apply:

Midtown Campus – All Midtown Campus residents must park in the White Street or 5th Avenue parking garages (except for the upper deck).
Westside Campus – All Westside Campus residents must park in the Centennial Hall Parking Garage (except for the upper deck) and the Westside Commuter Lot (note: the Westside Commuter Lot is currently unavailable until January 17th, 2022).

Please refer to https://www.wcsu.edu/police/parkingrules/ for more information.

Current Facilities Projects which may impact University operations

Midtown Campus

Berkshire Hall Major Renovations
Current through Spring 2023

Exterior and interior construction work is in progress. The contractor has completed demolition of the building’s south wing that faced the Campus Quadrangle. Work for roofing replacement, building systems, (e.g. ductwork and electrical systems) and new structural work within the existing building has commenced. Forms for the new footing and foundation walls at the new addition area are in progress with concrete pours to begin in the next couple of weeks.  There will be considerable noise and dust in the immediate area associated with this work. Please use extreme caution when walking around this active building site, especially on the Roberts Avenue side between Berkshire and Higgins where the construction vehicle and worker access gates are located. Berkshire Hall will be closed to University use until the Spring of 2023.

For more information on this project, please visit https://www.wcsu.edu/news/2021/10/15/wcsu-begins-conversion-of-berkshire-hall-to-new-student-center/      or     https://www.wcsu.edu/planning/berkshire-hall-transformation/
