2013 WCSU to offer college-readiness program to students with disabilities

DANBURY, CONN. — The AccessAbility Services office at Western Connecticut State University will once again offer “WestPrep” — a summer transition program for students with disabilities.

WestPrep is available to all recent high school graduates or college students with disabilities to help them learn to better navigate the exciting, but often challenging, transition from high school to university life. The college-readiness program, that was a successful pilot program at the university in 2011, is specifically geared to assist students with time management, organization and test preparation strategies. Students will also learn academic, social and self-advocacy skills.

The four-week program begins July 29 and runs Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost for the three-credit course is $1,850 and applications will be accepted through June 28.
