Western student body president to hold first state of affairs address

DANBURY, CONN. — On Facebook, he rubs elbows with Danbury’s mayor Mark Boughton and state Sen. Michael McLachlan. A political science major and senior at Western Connecticut State University, Andrew Wetmore is following the lead of his Republican mentors and “fulfilling his Constitutional duties” by holding the university’s first state of affairs address.

On Wednesday, Oct. 27, Wetmore, as president of the Student Government Association, will address the entire student body on the function of the student body and his priorities and goals as student body president. Wetmore is the sole representative who speaks on behalf of the SGA regarding matters affecting the students and university in general.

“This is an opportunity not only to address the entire student body, but also to address the WCSU community as a whole,” Wetmore said. “There are a large variety of issues that concern students ranging from course availability, graduate rates, future tuition, academic advisement and commuter student accommodations. This is the chance to get the great minds of our institution to listen and set priorities and agendas focused on the students’ priorities.”

The talk will be at 8 p.m. in the Student Center Theater on the university’s Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. It is free and the public is welcome.
