Weather Center : WCSU’s Weather Team

Jessica Stanley

Jessica has always loved weather, which might have to do with being born right before the Superstorm of ’93. Her real interest in weather began to increase in elementary school after a powerful afternoon thunderstorm passed over her house. Since that hail-filled day her mother and grandmother have had to keep an eye out to make sure she stayed indoors during any electrical storms. As full-time senior, Jessica is a very involved member and a past treasurer of the Meteorology Club here at WCSU. She has been directing the Bridge Club, in which college students work with a group of middle school students on science and math, for several semesters. She helps create the weather section of various newspapers through the school’s weather center and her weather forecasts are aired on the local cable channel, CTV-192, once a week. Jessica has also been competing in a national weather challenge for a couple years. In the future, she hopes to become an on-air meteorologist before continuing forward to teach classes and spread her love of weather. Jessica spends the majority of her free time playing with, reading to, and raising her 4 month old daughter. In addition, she also helps out with the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, the youth group that has made her into the young lady that she is today.
