2014 WCSU bookstore under new management

DANBURY, CONN. —The Western Connecticut State University bookstore is now managed by Neebo Inc. Neebo Inc. is the holding company and owner of Nebraska Book Company Inc., an industry leader in solutions for the college store marketplace.

Neebo was selected after a comprehensive request-for-proposals process that involved students, faculty and administrators at Western, and took over management of the bookstore on June 13, 2014.

WCSU Director of Campus & Student Centers Dr. Paul M Simon said, “I am excited about the opportunities Neebo will offer the Western community and our students. Neebo recognizes it operates in a competitive market, and offers new and used textbooks for sale or rental in both print and digital format, when available. Students will appreciate their ‘Best Price Promise’ to get the best price on their textbooks. There will be no need to search the Web; our store will have the best price.”

WCSU Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Keith Betts concurred. “I am very pleased with the process followed by the bookstore selection committee,” he said. “The rigorous interviews of the responding vendors, the consultation with other colleges and universities, and the overall due diligence undertaken by the committee members has resulted in an excellent choice for our students and university.”

Gwen Clancy, senior vice president of college stores at Neebo, said the company is focused on helping the campus store be competitive in the textbook business. “In today’s market, there are so many options where students can purchase their books,” she said. “College bookstores need to step up with an effective strategy to win over guests with service and solutions that are in sync with students’ rising expectations.” Clancy noted that for nearly 100 years, Neebo has served campus communities across the United States. It now owns and operates hundreds of stores nationwide.

“We can think of no greater opportunity than to serve WCSU and its students, a pursuit that inspires us both as a college store management company and as people,” Clancy said.

Neebo’s services include: textbook rentals, a “best price promise,” focus on guest service, an e-commerce platform and competitive prices for apparel, supplies and gifts. Students can now purchase or rent textbooks in-store or on the bookstore website, www.wcsubookstore.com.
