Planning & Engineering

Our department manages the planning, financing, design and construction of capital projects. We work closely with all departments to develop campus facilities that promote the university’s academic mission. Its goal is to ensure an aesthetic continuity that enhances the educational experience for students and faculty while enriching the Greater Danbury region.

We oversee a wide range of projects that support the needs of the university’s mission, its priorities and objectives.  The department continues to implement the university’s 2007 Campus Master Plan, which identifies capital projects that would enable the university to meet its strategic plan.

As the university facilities’ liaison with other state agencies concerning capital projects, we continually move the university’s goals forward while ensuring compliance with all guidelines, regulations and mandates as required by the state.

Interested in the Projects we do?

The role of the Facilities Planning & Engineering department is two-fold: to provide facilities-planning support as it relates to the physical environment of our campuses, and to manage all capital projects.

Responsibilities include:

  • Design
  • Project administration
  • Contractor administration
  • Furniture, fixture and equipment selection

Master Plan

The Facilities Master Plan summarizes the projects anticipated for each of the university’s schools and departments. It sets forth goals and objectives, including estimated time required and assignment of responsibility for each project’s completion.

The university’s aspirations for the future are described in its Strategic Plan and given physical definition in the Facilities Master Plan. A related study, named the Program for the Master Plan, is designed to detail the physical and programmatic implications of the Strategic Plan.
