Welcome Week 2014
Last Updated: July 15, 2014
Welcome Week begins Monday, August 25th!
Welcome to Western Connecticut State University's Welcome Week website. For new students beginning school in the Fall of 2014, we're planning a very exciting fall orientation program.
2014 June Orientation - Update
If you missed June Orientation and still need your schedule,
Come to campus any Monday – Friday to pick up your
schedule at the Registrar’s Office.
If you need advisement, you could call the
Academic Advisement Center and make
an appointment to get your schedule and advice there. Once you have
your schedule, you can get your ID at the
WestConnect Office, go to one
of the computer
centers to get your email and WestConnduit username and password, and
then head over to the Parking Office
on the Westside campus to get your parking decal (if you need one). It
is recommended that you check office hours for each office before you come
in and to call the parking office to make sure someone is there since it is
a one person office.
Then keep checking back here for detailed
information regarding all planned activities for Welcome Week. Whether
you live on campus or are a commuter, you should schedule Monday, August 25
– Wednesday, August 27 all day for Orientation activities. Especially
if you missed Orientation, you should plan to attend as many of the events
and activities as you can to get you a involved and engaged and ready for
the semester. It should be fun!
Thank you to those who attended our June Orientation for new students June 22-26, 2014. We hope you had fun. Please provide us with feedback about your orientation experience so we know what we did well and also where we need to consider improvements for next year.
The official first day of Welcome Week is Monday, August 25, 2014, but a few activities are planned for the week before (Adult Learners and students interested in our AccessAbility Services orientation, please see below).

Our offices are open Monday through Friday all summer long. The computer centers are even open on the weekends and some evenings. Check the individual webpages for office hours or contact the Admissions Office at 203-837-9000 with questions regarding your status.
Welcome Week is geared mostly towards students to make them feel welcome and comfortable with their new surroundings. However, there will be activities for parents on Monday, August 25th, such as the Alumni Legacy Photo (if one or both parents are alumni), the Entering the Gates ceremony, the Opening Ceremony, and an afternoon parent workshop. There is also a dinner for students and families that afternoon. New students will eat for free, parents will be asked to pay $10; siblings 12 and under pay $6.
