Placement Testing Information

WCSU uses the SAT/ACT scores to assist us in placing our first-time students at the appropriate level in Writing and Mathematics courses. To prepare for your first semester at WCSU you may need to take a math and/or writing placement exam. All incoming first-time students who applied test-optional will be required to take both the math and writing placement exams.

The placement exams (both math and writing) will be held in person on our Midtown Campus at the Math Emporium classroom in Higgins Annex building.

– Please register for the placement exam date you’re are able to attend. Placements dates are first come first service so please register as soon as you can. It is required that you register for a date ahead of time.

 

Transfer students Please refer to the notes section of your Degree Works audit for placement information.  You may be exempt from placement exams if prior course work has been completed. If instructed to take placements transfer students can submit SAT or ACT scores to be reviewed for placement (although you may still need to take placements depending on SAT/ACT scores). If you have not taken the SATS or ACTs and were instructed to take the placement exams please sign up for placement information through the link above.

Any incoming student wishing to place into a higher Mathematics course than indicated by the SAT/ACT score may take the Mathematics placement test.

STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES: If you have a learning or physical disability that would prevent you
from taking a placement exam under standard conditions, you may request accommodations

accommodation during the standard administration of the placement exam. You should reach
