Placement Testing Information

All incoming first-time students who were accepted “test optional” or students instructed to take a math or writing placement exam from their new student placement sheet (found in their accept packet) will be placed into an appropriate math and writing course for the fall.  Students will be given an assessment the first week of classes in their math and writing course in order to adjust placement if necessary. First-time students are pre-registered based on your major and placements. First-time students will receive their pre-made schedules during new student orientation. Please keep an eye out on your emails for additional information on virtual summer orientation.

Transfer students who have been instructed to take placements can submit SAT or ACT scores for placement. Transfer students must meet with an academic advisor in order to register for courses.

Please contact Annmarie Savarese, Assistant Director of Admissions at 203-837-9098 or Savaresea@wcsu.edu with any question pertaining to placements.

WCSU uses the SAT or ACT scores for first year and transfer students to assist us in placing you at the appropriate level in Writing and Mathematics/Computer Science courses. Transfer students may be exempt if prior course work has been completed. Please refer to you credit evaluation for placement information. Any student wishing to place into a higher Mathematics course than indicated by the SAT/ACT score may take the Mathematics placement test. If you did not take the SAT or ACT or have been accepted test optional and do not have prior college credit, you must take the Mathematics placement test and WCSU Writing exam.
