Human Library 2026

HUMAN LIBRARY 2026: The Human Library at Western Connecticut State University invites students, faculty, and staff to engage in meaningful dialogue that challenges stereotypes and fosters understanding across differences. Modeled after the international Human Library movement, this interactive event allows participants to “check out” a Human Book — individuals who share lived experiences, identities, or perspectives that are often misunderstood or stigmatized.
Through respectful, open conversations, readers are encouraged to ask questions, listen deeply, and explore narratives that promote empathy, inclusion, and critical reflection. The Human Library creates a brave and welcoming space for learning, connection, and community building.
Join us from noon to 6 p.m. at the Ruth Haas Library on the Midtown campus to engage in powerful conversations that broaden perspectives and strengthen WCSU’s commitment to inclusion, belonging, and dialogue across difference.
