Severe weather outbreaks are relatively rare within the New England region and almost unheard of during the cool season. However, on Saturday, November 13, 2021, a vigorous upper-level trough traversed the Northeast region pushing a strong cold front through the region. A combination of strong wind shear and an unseasonably mild and moist low-level airmass helped aid in the development of an intense line of thunderstorms yielding widespread wind damage and numerous tornadoes across Connecticut, Long Island, Rhode Island, and southeast Massachusetts.
