Our Mission
Western Connecticut State University is committed to the philosophy that all individuals should be given an opportunity for the development of their skills and knowledge, as well as an awareness of their role and responsibilities in society. WCSU's population consists of many individuals with varied interests and backgrounds. The Student Center/Student Life Office mission seeks to create for the individual student an environment that provides for the personal integration of educational, recreational and social experiences.
Mission
-
The Student Center/Student Life Office serves as an integral part of the educational mission of the University: We enhance the educational program by providing opportunities for student development through volunteer services, employment and self-directed activities.
-
We serve as the community center for all members of the University (students, faculty, staff, alumni and guests).
-
We serve as a conference center for the Midtown Campus.
-
We provide the services, conveniences and amenities, which are needed in daily campus life and in support of the mission of the University.
-
We serve as a unifying force -- a point of identification -- in the life of Western Connecticut State University.
The realization of the above comes about through encouragement of the initiation and development of student programs by organizations on campus.
The success of the Student Center/Student Life program will not be measured by how many hundreds attend an event. Success will be measured by those who choose to avail themselves of the opportunities we provide and the personal satisfaction gained therein. |
