Graduate Assistantships at WestConn

Graduate Assistantships provide on-campus, extracurricular, experiential learning experiences and stipends to graduate students. They are available to well-qualified, matriculated graduate students in activities that are academically relevant to the student’s program of study.

Graduate assistantships may be awarded only to matriculated graduate students in three categories: Graduate Assistant (GA), Teaching Assistant (TA), and Research Assistant (RA) who provide support for the university.

The graduate assistantship positions require the candidate to be matriculated in a graduate program at WestConn, registered for the current semester, and have a CGPA of 3.00 or higher. Graduate Assistants may not be employed by any other employment category of the university.

Stipends awarded to Graduate Assistants range from $1200 to $4800 per semester and should not exceed 20 work hours per week.

In addition to a stipend award, full-time graduate students (enrolled in nine credits or more per semester) may have the following fees waived:

  • State University Fee
  • University General Fee, except for that portion attributable to student accident insurance
  • Student Activity Fee

If a graduate student is interested in applying for a Graduate Assistantship at WCSU, they may seek guidance from their Graduate Program Coordinator and/or department chair.
