Visual Arts Program
The art major at WCSU is a professional degree program, which provides visual arts training within the context of a liberal arts education. This environment provides a broad, diverse basis of knowledge along with the ability to think critically and analytically.
The areas of concentration are graphic design, illustration, photography and studio arts (which are comprised of painting and sculpture).
The liberal arts component promotes and develops a set of skills that are of vital importance to any student and key to the success of any artist or designer. These include the ability to think critically, the development and refinement of verbal and writing skills, and the acquisition of a diverse and extensive vocabulary and knowledge base.
This powerful combination of professional artistic training and acquired liberal arts skills enables visual artists to transcend potential boundries so that they may more successfully develop and articulate the visual environments which they create.
