Undergraduate Degree Programs:

There are three degree programs within the health promotion and exercise sciences area:

  • B.S. Health Education (PK-12)
    Bachelor of Science degree and teaching certification as a school health educator
  • B.S. Public Health
    Bachelor of Science degree as a public health educator, with options in community health, wellness management, Holistic and Integrative Health, and allied health professions

Following completion of a Bachelor of Science in Health Education or Bachelor of Science in Public Health, students will be prepared to sit for the national CHES examination (Certified Health Education Specialist – the credential for health educators)

Bachelor of Science degree prepared to pursue positions in healthcare facilities, group medical practices, parks and recreation, wellness centers and corporations, and other for profit and non-profit wellness settings or start health and wellness venture at some time in the future

More Information:

Currently, the Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion Studies is under review for accreditation by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). In compliance with the provision in the CEPH accreditation procedures, the Health Promotion and Exercise Science Department must assure that all affected parties, i.e., students, alumni, faculty, the practice community, and other stakeholders, have the opportunity to provide written input to the CEPH site visit team.

The input will be considered in the deliberations of the site team during their November 2023 visit to WCSU. Third Party comments to CEPH are welcome until October 13, 2023.
