Application for Minority Retention Recruitment Committee Funds

Application for MRRC funds will be accepted from all non-tenured full-time faculty who are members of minority and other protected groups that are least represented in the WCSU faculty workforce, consistent with the principles of Affirmative Action (CBA 3.4). Application materials are available online and must be submitted electronically. Please be advised that any recipients of funding will be asked to submit a report summarizing results of related activities. The report is due no later than one month after the period for which these funds are awarded.

Funds can be used, for example, for travel expenses, research-related expenses, books, and credentials (as per section 3.4.3 of the CBA). As per article 3.4.4 of the CBA, funds may not be used for any salary payment or stipend.

Application will not be considered if all information outlined below is not complete. Applicant’s eligibility must be approved by the Affirmative Action Officer before the MRRC acts on the request for funds.

Research & Projects

 

 

Professional Development (and/or reimbursements)

  1. For expenses related to campus interviews of candidates, each department is eligible to receive up to$400 per minority candidate and up to $1,200 per department search. This funding is in addition to any other department/university recruitment funding and is only available after other recruitment funds have been spent.
  2. For relocation assistance, the MRRC provides eligible candidates with $1,000 in moving expenses. Additional requests will be considered as long as funds are available. In some cases, the MRRC may consider covering up to 50% of total moving expenses as long as the total reimbursement does not exceed $2,500.
  3. Funds will be distributed only after all receipts are received and processed. Only searches in the current academic year will be accepted.

Recruitment Funds by Recruiters 

  • Recruitment funds may be awarded for informal recruitment activities, such as during attendance at a national, regional or state conference. During a major conference, the attendee will demonstrate evidence of recruiting, interviewing and/or participating in a recruitment activity dedicated to filling an existing or new position within his/her department. Application amount: up to $500.00.
