Macricostas School of Arts and Sciences
Thank you for visiting the Macricostas School of Arts and Sciences via its Home Page. We are proud of our school and happy to welcome you and help you get acquainted.
Do you like to draw, paint, design? Arts and Sciences is the school for you. Are you curious about life forms? DNA? plastics? the weather? the stars? You can find answers in our science labs, observatories, and weather center. Do you write? read poetry or fiction? make speeches? act? Would you like to be on TV? A & S opens the door.
A & S students have access to state-of-the-art information technology and new frontiers in communications. They gain perspective by in-depth study of history and philosophy, psychology, and the social sciences.
Where but in Arts and Sciences could you work with a faculty member honored for his recent work on creativity? with a Fulbright Scholar who has lectured at major universities in England, Ireland, France, Hungary, and New Zealand? with a prizewinning playwright? with a scientist awarded over $1 million for work in meteorology and forecasting? with the president of the national honor society in Psychology?
Where else could you work with these and other faculty not only as a student but as a junior colleague, supported by a special program in student-faculty collaboration? A & S faculty are distinguished professionals, but above all they are teachers. They work in the classroom. They are committed to helping students learn. As you explore the Home Page you will learn that all students at the university complete courses in the Arts and Sciences for breadth of education. More than half concentrate in one of the 28 degree programs offered--or with faculty advice, they may design their own major. Some programs lead directly to the job market, with students gaining practical experience along the way in internships and cooperative education. Others lead to graduate school for advanced professional training. Graduates may be justly proud of a degree in the Arts and Sciences. If you have questions, please let us help you answer them.
