Dr. Maguire’s varied background in secondary education,   community affairs, publishing, music, and theatre make her especially well suited to the demands of her role as the English Department’s liaison with the Department of Education.  Besides preparing our secondary English education majors for their student teaching experience and subsequently for Connecticut State certification,  she has also served as Assistant Coach of the university's Debating Society, as library liaison, and as the English point person responsible for achieving accreditation from the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education. Her original course in English Language Skills is very popular.
