Columbus Day Holiday – Monday, October 8, 2018 – NEW 09-11-2018
Columbus Day Holiday for Classified employees (Clerical, Maintenance, A&R, and Connecticut Police & Fire Union) as well as for Administrative Faculty(SUOAF) and Management/Confidential employees.
However, because classes will be in session on that day, some departments will remain open and employees will be required to work. Any employee who is required to work will receive compensatory and/or overtime pay in accordance with their collective bargaining agreement.
Note: You do NOT have to do anything. We were advised by the Comptroller’s office that the Retirement Commission is in the process of applying to the IRS for a determination of the State Employee’s Retirement System (SERS) retirement plan’s qualified status. As part of that application process, notice must be made available to all current SERS members by posting a copy of the notice in the same areas and manner that we post other required workplace postings and announcements.
Questions about the plan or the application process can be directed to the Retirement Division, which can be reached by calling (860) 702-3480.
