Novel Coronavirus and COVID-19

May 4 – Updates for students, faculty and staff

We are still working on how to conduct an in-person commencement celebration to replace the canceled May 17 event, but we are planning a virtual celebration of every senior’s accomplishment. If you have not yet sent your photo, major and hometown to PR@wcsu.edu, do so now. We will publish everyone’s photo and information on WCSU.edu and on Facebook.

For incoming students, orientation will also be virtual in several sessions. We will be live on June 18 for students entering the School of Visual & Performing Arts, June 22 for the Ancell School of Business, June 24 for the Macricostas School of Arts and Sciences, and July 9 for the School of Professional Studies. We are planning informational and fun sessions for students and parents, even though we won’t be able to greet you in person. More details will be coming soon.

You may know that the university worked with the National Guard and Danbury Hospital to set up the O’Neill Center on the Westside campus as a field hospital in the event Danbury Hospital needed overflow beds. The crunch of patients did not happen, and health officials are telling us that they expect the hospital to be able to handle any future admissions due to Covid-19. As a result, we are working to convert the O’Neill Center back to a field house, ready for athletic events and other gatherings as soon as possible.
