Writing Consultants

Location: Haas Library, Midtown Campus
Description:
Writing Center Consultants work with fellow students on all types of writing assignments from any class. New consultants are paid for training and attend weekly meetings, which are arranged around your scheduled. Work schedule is also arranged around your classes. Writing Consultants may also work as Composition Embedded Tutors.
Requirements/Desired:
- Any major, minimum 45 credits completed by Fall 2024
- Overall (cumulative) GPA of 3.2 or higher
- Excellent writing skills
- Strong critical reading skills
- Strong familiarity with at least one research documentation style (e.g., MLA, APA)
- Outstanding interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least three semester remaining before graduation
- Prior experience with customer service of any kind
- Extensive research experience
- Fluency in another language besides English *bonus* (non-native English speakers welcomed!)
Hours/Schedule: Sunday – Thursday, 10 am – 7 pm; some Fridays; no Saturday hours.
Pay Rate: $16 / hour
Payroll Type: Department Payroll & Federal Work Study
