SUMMER STUDY IN SPAIN 2020

Details:
The program for 2020 is scheduled for May 16 into June 16 (subject to airfare availability)

WCSU is pleased to announce that Dr. Galina Bakhtiarova and Professor David Skora will again be leading a course to Spain in May/June 2020. This four-week study abroad program will offer classes in Spanish and Art that satisfy general education and major/minor requirements. The program will be based in Andalusia, a region on the Mediterranean with millennial history. Students will live with host families in Seville and Malaga , and will participate in a variety of exciting weekend trips that will include national parks, medieval castles, Roman monuments, one in a kind Royal School of Equestrian Arts and many more. Spanish culinary traditions are outstanding and you will have an opportunity to taste and learn how to make authentic paella and tapas. All these and many more are included in the program.

Participants can earn 6 credits. Spanish credits satisfy Intercultural Competence/Language requirements. All levels are encouraged to apply. Independent study and honors options are available for advanced students.

The estimated travel fee for the program is $3,950.

A non-refundable deposit will be due at the time of the application, no later than February 20, 2020. The travel fee includes round-trip airfare from the NY/NJ metro area, transportation to/from the US airport and airport transfers in Spain, full room and board (family stay in double room), emergency health insurance, transportation in Spain, excursions, various activities and museums while in Spain. Students are responsible for their personal expenses, local transportation and incidentals.

Tuition will be billed separately.**Students in need of financial aid should contact the Student Financial Services Office IMMEDIATELY. Although financial aid in not available for the summer term, students are permitted to take out additional loans for the Spring semester to cover the cost of the program. Itinerary and Fees:
The estimated travel fee is $3,950. (Subject to change)  WCSU tuition and fees are extra. The travel fee is due in three installments:
1. Pay $1,300 by February 20, 2020. Applications are due on this date as well.
2. Pay $1,500 by March 19, 2020.
3. Pay $1,150 by April 2, 2020.

The program cost does NOT include:

  • WCSU tuition and fees (6 UG credits required; more are available for qualifying students)
  • Visa, if required / Passport (required). The validity of the passport must extend to 6 months after the date of departure from Spain.
  • Recommended trip cancellation insurance (available through an insurance company)
  • Some meals while traveling
  • Personal expenses / incidental items
  • Local transportation
