Janet Burke, Department of Education & Educational Psychology

Dr. Janet Burke, is a Full Professor of Education at Western, where she teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in Applied Behavior Analysis, Instruction and Technology: Computer Literacy, Educational Simulations, Electronic Portfolio Assessment, Assistive Technology, Distance Learning, Developing the Curriculum through the Internet, Developing Cultural Diversity through Virtual Fieldtrips, Bilingual Education, Immersion Programs, Learning Disabilities, Special Education, Gifted and Talented, Assistive Technology for Special Education, Interactive Television for Homebound Students, Web Page Development HTML, Understanding and Troubleshooting your PC, Computer Repair, Desktop Publishing, Hypermedia and Multimedia.

Dr. Janet Burke holds a BA in Education from Lehman College of the City University of New York, an MA from Columbia University, and an Ed.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Wayne State University. Dr. Burke began the Technology option at WCSU. She was a Bilingual English/Spanish Educator at the Elementary School level for 14 years in New York City, and Michigan. She taught Technology Media courses at the High School level in Westchester County schools in New York.

She has served as consultant for Technology instruction in private and public schools. Dr. Janet Burke has presented numerous workshops in Dreamweaver, Hypertext MarkUp Language, Excel, Access, Front Page, Microsoft Word, Publisher, Outlook, Internet, and Adobe Photoshop. Dr. Burke has served as the Bilingual Liaison for Danbury Public Schools. Dr. Burke has authored software applications for IBM, and presented papers on the effective use of technology in education with an emphasis on English Language Learners.
