HISPANIC COMMUNITY CELEBRACION: WCSU will celebrate being an Hispanic-Serving Institution and our community with an afternoon of events that pay tribute to the heritage of the Hispanic community from 2 to 5 p.m.
The festivities will take place at the Berkshire Hall Lawn on the university’s Midtown campus, and will be free and open to the public (rain location will be Midtown Student Center).

2 p.m. – Welcome Remarks by Chief DEI Officer, Jennifer Labate
2:15 p.m. – Performance from Matica Arts
2:45 p.m. – Poem by Angelina Molina (Fourth Wall)
2:50 p.m. – Performance from Trio Los Pájaros
3:25 p.m. – Lobo Awards Ceremony (Lobo Student Award, Lobo Faculty/Staff Award, & Lobo Alumni Award), Presented by Dr. Anna Malavisi
3:45 p.m. – Performance from Movimiento Cultural Afro-Continental
4:45 p.m. – Closing Remarks by Director of Inclusion & Belonging, Joshua Sumrell
In addition to the entertainment, Sodexo dining services will provide an assortment of food to celebrate the occasion in style. Among the offerings will be an aguas frescas station, and tortilla and plantain chips with assorted dips including jalapeno cheese sauce, pico de gallo, salsa, guacamole and hot sauce. A buffet will feature grilled chicken asada, jasmine rice and a garden salad, and there will be a churro station for dessert — all at no cost to celebration participants.
