MFA Winter Residency Workshop and Reading

January 6 @ 1:30 pm - 3:30 pm
Hotel Zero Degrees

MFA WINTER RESIDENCY READING: The WCSU Master of Fine Arts in Creative and Professional Writing program will host its Winter Residency from Friday, Jan. 2, through Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Hotel Zero Degrees, 15 Milestone Road in Danbury. The public is invited to attend a workshop and reading, “Better Together: How to Co-Write a Nonfiction Book,” featuring Cha McCoy & Layla Schlack, at 1:30 p.m. at Hotel Zero Degrees.

Cha McCoy and Layla Schlack worked together on McCoy’s book, “Wine Pairing for the People” (Harvest, November 2025) from proposal to launch. Learn about their process and how they figured out what worked for them as a team, and get a broader picture of how an illustrated nonfiction book gets made, how one becomes a collaborator on a project like this, and more.

Anyone interested in attending additional sessions or who would like to learn more about the program are encouraged to contact MFA Coordinator Anthony D’Aries at dariesa@wcsu.edu

Books by faculty and visiting writers are available through Byrd’s Books: https://byrdsbooks.com/list/wcsu-residency-2025
