(CANCELED DUE TO WEATHER) POOR YORICK – WRITERS’ OPEN MIC: Join WCSU’s Department of Creative & Professional Writing Program for a Writers’ Open Mic with Pop-up Book Shop from 3-5 p.m. at The Market at The Meetinghouse, located at 602 Ridgebury Road in Ridgefield — just a 12-minute drive from the WCSU Westside campus!

Hosted by Poor Yorick, the program’s literary journal, this event celebrates both WCSU’s lifelong community of writers and the vibrant literary voices of the Greater Danbury Area. We’re excited to share our program’s long-standing tradition of these open mics with the local community beyond the boundaries of our campus with an evening of storytelling, poetry, and prose of every kind at The Market at The Meetinghouse. This event will feature a Pop-up Book Shop hosted by Rainy Day Paperback Exchange of Bethel, offering a curated selection of used books.

Featured Student Reader: Sophia Caselnova
Caselnova is a recent M.F.A. candidate in Creative Nonfiction at Western Connecticut State University focusing on memoir writing, having recently finished her first collection of work, titled “The Climb,” which includes essays, poems, and vignettes. Previously, Caselnova worked as a journalist where she won an award for her coverage of a municipal lawsuit, and her poetry has been featured in Poet’s Choice and Sad Girl Diaries. She now leads creative nonfiction workshops for veterans enabling them with the tools necessary to tell their stories.
