WCSU’s class of 2010 prepares to graduate


DANBURY, CONN. — Western Connecticut State University administrators, faculty and staff are putting the finishing touches on this weekend’s 112th commencement exercises that will feature speeches by two inspiring individuals: musician/humanitarian Wyclef Jean and Jennifer Smith Turner, CEO of Girl Scouts of Connecticut.

WestConn’s graduate commencement ceremony, featuring Smith Turner’s remarks, will be at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 21, in the Feldman Arena of the William O’Neill Athletic and Convocation Center on the Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. The undergraduate commencement, at which Jean will speak, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 23. The ceremony will be rain or shine at the Westside Athletic Stadium, also on the Westside campus.

Two hundred and two graduate students will be awarded their degrees on May 21, with an additional 12 doctoral candidates receiving their Ed.D. degrees at the evening ceremony. Nearly 1,000 undergraduate students will be awarded their diplomas at the commencement exercises on May 23.
