DANBURY, CONN. — The department of writing, linguistics & creative process at Western Connecticut State University will hold its second annual Spring Writing & Creative Process Festival the week of April 11. The public is invited to the following events and admission is free:

• Monday, April 11, at 6 p.m.: Reading by award-winning fiction author Paola Corso. Her most recent book, “Catina’s Haircut: A Novel in Stories,” is a Sons of Italy National Book Club Selection and included on Library Journal’s “First Novels: Fall Firsts” notable list. This will be held in Room 103 in Warner Hall on the university’s Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury.

• Tuesday, April 12, at 1:30 p.m.: A panel discussion, “Everything You Learned on Facebook is a Lie,” will be conducted by students of the university’s Master of Fine Arts program. The lecture will explore the relationship between social media and public opinion with a focus on where the burden of proof lies. This also will be held in Room 103 in Warner Hall.

• Tuesday, April 12, at 4 p.m. “The Making of An Anthology” will be conducted by Anne Witkavitch, a WCSU assistant professor of writing and editor of “Press Pause Moments: Essays about Life Transitions.” The discussion also will be held in Room 103 in Warner Hall.

• Wednesday, April 13, at 2 p.m.: An “Online Journalism” panel will include editors from online news media such as Patch and The Connecticut Mirror. This event will be held in Room 201 in the Student Center on the Midtown campus.

• Friday, April 15, at 6 p.m.: Poetry performance of “Ogunquit” by Confluence will be held in Alumni Hall on the Midtown campus. “Confluence,” a creation of J.D. Scrimgeour, a writing professor at WCSU, and Phillip Swanson. Both on the faculty of Salem State College in Massachusetts, the two men created Confluence to merge music and art. The first CD, “Ogunquit,” was produced by Grammy-award winner Richard Price and released by MSR Classics in 2010.
