2012 WCSU’s class of 2012 prepares to graduate


DANBURY, CONN. Western Connecticut State University administrators, faculty and staff are putting the finishing touches on this weekend’s 114th commencement, which will feature speeches from Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman and Ronald Bruder, founder of the Education for Employment Foundation.

Wyman will give the commencement address at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2012, at WCSU’s graduate ceremony in the Feldman Arena of the William A. O’Neill Athletic and Convocation Center on the university’s Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. The undergraduate ceremony, with Bruder as the commencement speaker, will be at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 13, 2012, at the Westside Athletic Stadium on the Westside campus. The ceremony will take place rain or shine and the public is invited.

One hundred and sixty graduate students will receive degrees on May 11, with an additional 11 doctoral candidates receiving degrees at the evening ceremony. Nearly 970 undergraduate students will be awarded diplomas at the undergraduate commencement exercises on May 13.
