WCSU 2017 – Commencement exercises


DANBURY, CONN. Western Connecticut State University will hold its 119th Commencement at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, May 21, 2017, at the Webster Bank Arena at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport. This is the third consecutive year that the ceremony will take place at the Fairfield County venue.

This year’s commencement exercises will feature the award of degrees to 1,263 undergraduate candidates, 112 master’s degree candidates and eight doctoral candidates from the Ed.D. in Instructional Leadership program.

Graduating senior Madiha Khan, of Danbury, will deliver the Keynote Address. During the ceremony, Khan will receive a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry, Biochemistry option. She is one of two WCSU students to receive this year’s Connecticut State Colleges and Universities Henry Barnard Distinguished Student Award. Presidential Medals will be awarded to WCSU alumnus Attorney Robert Yamin and Danbury Probate Judge Hon. Dianne Yamin, partners in Yamin & Yamin LLP.

The ceremony will be streamed at www.wcsu.edu/live and broadcast on campus radio station WXCI at 91.7 FM.
