2015 Western performance graduates to join together for evening of music

DANBURY, CONN. More than 100 alumni from the Western Connecticut State University Department of Music will perform in “WCSU Music Alumni Night” – a chance for many of them to perform for the first time in the newly minted Visual and Performing Arts Center.

At 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 7, 2015, alumni will perform in three ensembles – choir, jazz and band. The performance will be held in the Veronica Hagman Concert Hall in the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the university’s Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury. The concert will be free and the public is invited. Donations to the WCSU Alumni Association will be accepted.

“We ‘welcome home’ our alumni who will be sharing their time, treasure and talent with us,” said Interim WCSU Alumni Relations Director Tom Crucitti. “Prior to the event, the Office of Alumni Relations will present a medallion to participating alumni as a keepsake. This is our way of ‘giving back’ to them.”

The alumni, some of whom are traveling a distance for the event, will rehearse together for two hours on Saturday afternoon and then join others for a reception prior to the performance.

This is the second year that the music alumni have taken part in this event, although it is the first time the group will perform in the university’s new performing arts building.
