2015 Excitement builds as Homecoming 2015 approaches


DANBURY, CONN. — The Western Connecticut State University Colonials are looking forward to a great homecoming game against Fitchburg State on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015. But the excitement doesn’t start there. The entire university is gearing up for a week full of events leading up to the 6 p.m. game. Unless otherwise indicated, all events will take place on the university’s Westside campus, 43 Lake Ave. Extension in Danbury.

Tuesday, Oct. 13:

Special Homecoming Football Dinner from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Westside Campus Center cafeteria and in the Student Center Restaurant, Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. Join students, alumni, staff and Colonial Chuck for a special dinner. Price is $9.99 or a meal swipe for students on the meal plan. This event is open to WCSU students and their parents, faculty and staff.

Friday, Oct. 16:

Hall of Fame Dinner and Ceremony at 6 p.m. at the Amber Room Colonnade, 1 Stacey Road in Danbury. To make a reservation, go to https://alumni.wcsu.edu/hall-of-fame.

Homecoming Bonfire at 8 p.m. at the Ives Concert Park, Westside campus. This event is open to WCSU students and their guests, parents, faculty and staff.

Saturday, Oct. 17:

Brunch Buffet from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Westside Campus Center Dining Room. $8 for adults and $5 for children under 12. This event is open to WCSU students and families.

Homecoming Tailgating from noon to 6 p.m. in the commuter parking lot, Westside campus. $10 per carload; $50 per tent space. No charge for pedestrians. Gather with friends and former classmates for a tailgate party before the big game. Must be 21 years old to possess or consume alcohol. Please read the university’s Tailgating Rules and Regulations.

Reunion City from noon to 5 p.m. in the Alumni Hospitality Tent (across from the Westside Athletic Center), Westside campus. Admission is $5 and includes one free drink. Must be 21 years old to consume alcohol. Beer is $5; soda and water are free. Join alumni and friends for some good cheer, music and Karaoke at this traditional Homecoming favorite!

Homecoming Food Truck Vendors from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. in front of the Westside Athletic Center, Westside campus. Join the university community at this Homecoming feast. Food truck vendors will be serving some of your favorite sidewalk treats: Cupcakes, pizza, macaroni and cheese, warm apple cider, sweet tea and coffee.

Homecoming Street Fair from 3 to 5 p.m. on Feldman Drive adjacent to the O’Neill Center, Westside campus. This is open to WCSU students, parents, faculty and staff.

Homecoming Chili Cook-Off Competition from 3 to 5 p.m. on Feldman Drive adjacent to the O’Neill Center, Westside campus. Everyone’s a judge! Come and taste chili as student clubs compete for the title of Chili Cook-Off Champion. No admission charge.

The Great Box Car Derby Race at 5 p.m. in front of the Westside Athletic Center, Westside campus. Come watch students compete in this amazing race.
