2014 Silent auction to benefit WCSU scholarship

DANBURY, CONN. Dr. Melissa Fenwick, a criminologist and assistant professor in the Division of Justice and Law Administration at Western Connecticut State University, is remembered as a great teacher, a great scholar and a great friend. She encouraged students to grow and held them to high standards.

When Fenwick died unexpectedly in 2012 at age 38, her husband, Michael Damici, and her JLA faculty mentor, Professor Emeritus Dr. Harold Schramm, founded the Melissa E. Fenwick and Harold B. Schramm Justice and Law Administration Endowed Scholarship to provide annual grants recognizing student achievement in the JLA program. Schramm shared an office with Fenwick until his retirement. The purpose of the scholarship is to honor the achievement that both brought to WCSU while providing financial support to students.

On Saturday, Oct. 18, 2014, a silent action to support the endowed scholarship will be from 7 to 10 p.m. at St. Ann’s Melkite Church, 181 Clapboard Ridge Road in Danbury. The purpose of the scholarship is to honor the achievement that both brought to WCSU while providing financial support to students.

The Fenwick/Schramm Scholarship will be awarded annually on recommendation of the division’s chair and faculty to a continuing JLA student who has maintained high standards of academic excellence and who demonstrates financial need.
