2013 WCSU offers day trips, travel opportunities
DANBURY, CONN. — The Western Connecticut State University Alumni Association has announced a variety of local day trips from March until September 2013 that are open to alumni and friends of the university.
This month, the 2013 travel program begins with a trip on Sunday, March 24, to the Mohonk Mountain House, a timeless, classic Hudson Valley resort. The bus will depart the WCSU Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury, at 8 a.m. and leave New Paltz at 4 p.m. The $102/person cost includes a presentation on the history of Mohonk Mountain House and lunch.
On Sunday, June 2, the Alumni Association outing will feature a Brunch Cruise aboard World Yacht, New York’s premier dining cruise line. The spectacular views of New York City will include the Manhattan skyline, the New Jersey waterfront, the many bridges, Ellis Island, Liberty Island, Governor’s Island and an up-close view of the Statue of Liberty. The price of the cruise is $110/person and includes brunch. Transportation will depart the WCSU Midtown campus at 9 a.m. The cruise will board at 11:30 a.m. and dock at around 2 p.m.
A bus will depart Danbury for Woodbury Commons Premium Outlets, featuring 220 outlet stores, at 8 a.m. on Saturday, July 27. The cost is $39/person. The bus will depart to return to Danbury at 6 p.m.
An opportunity to attend the San Gennaro Festival in New York City will be offered on Sunday, Sept. 22. The 86th Annual Feast of San Gennaro takes place annually on the streets of historic Little Italy. The Feast of San Gennaro is known the world over for its festive atmosphere featuring 11 days of religious processions and colorful parades, free musical entertainment every day, a wide variety of ethnic food delicacies, charming restaurants and cafes and even a world-famous cannoli-eating competition. The cost is $45/person. Transportation will depart the WCSU Midtown campus at 8:30 a.m. The return trip to Danbury will depart at 6:30 p.m.
