WCSU Dance Team to present ‘Love Story’
DANBURY, CONN. — They tumble, they have flash, they have style and they have a story to tell. The Western Connecticut State University Dance Team will present “Love Story” at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 24, in the Ives Concert Hall in White Hall on the university’s Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury. The public is invited and tickets will be available at the door: general admission for $5 and WCSU students with valid I.D. for $3.
The eight-dance performance is devoted to the different types of love that people can experience throughout their lives. According to one of the three dance team captains, Megan Loughran, “Each piece will tell its own ‘story’ about the highs and lows of loving and being loved.” The team will showcase hip hop, jazz, lyrical and contemporary styles of dance to music from Bon Jovi, Beyonce, John Legend, Robin Thicke, Jason Mraz and Mindy Smith.
Future WCSU Dance Team performances will include the “Earth & Sky” show at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, May 10, in the Ives Concert Hall in White Hall on the university’s Midtown campus. This presentation will be co-sponsored by the Khalda Logan Memorial Foundation, which raises scholarship money for students working toward a degree in dance, communications or education at WestConn or New York University. The team also is working toward attending two competitions in the spring of 2010.
