2012 WCSU artists to display works in New York City

DANBURY, CONN. — The Master of Fine Arts Emerging Artists Show, featuring works by the 2012 graduates from the Western Connecticut State University Master of Fine Arts in Visual Arts program, will be on display from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, through Saturday, July 7, 2012, on the 4th floor of the Blue Mountain Gallery, 530 W. 25th St. in New York City. An Opening Reception will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, June 21.

Among the featured artists will be Megan Marden, of Danbury, and Amy Almeida, of New Fairfield.

The M.F.A. in Visual Arts was the first terminal degree offered at WCSU, and remains its only full-time, residential graduate program. The only graduate degree program of its kind within the Connecticut State University System, it provides artists within the state and region an attractive option for the attainment of artistic excellence at the relatively low cost of a state university. WCSU graduates have been selected to present at juried exhibitions at numerous New York City galleries, including the Prince Street Gallery, the Bowery Gallery and The First Street Gallery, as well as in regional galleries such as the Warwick Museum of Art (Rhode Island), Gallery One (Old Saybrook), and the Nashawannuck Gallery (Easthampton, Mass.).

The exhibition and reception will be free and open to the public. For more information, call (203) 837-3222 or visit www.bluemountaingallery.org/artists/92.
