DANBURY, CONN. — Dr. Chad Seewagan, ornithologist and executive director of the Great Hollow Nature Preserve & Ecological Research Center, will discuss “Evaluating the Quality of New York City Parks as Stopover Sites for Migratory Songbirds” at 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016, in Room 125 of the Science Building on the Western Connecticut State University Midtown campus, 181 White St. in Danbury.

Seewagan’s research includes migration patterns of birds throughout urbanized regions of North America. He studied stopover sites of migrant birds and how they utilize urban habitat structures. With his findings, Seewagan has assessed the quality of stopover sites in the New York metropolitan area in comparison to larger forest tracks.

The event will be free and the public is invited. It is offered as part of the continuing “Research Seminar” series hosted by the Department of Biological and Environmental sciences at Western.
